It was always thought that the factor that limited the height of buildings was materials science or vertical transportation of people (elevators).
New factors such as terrorist attack will now affect everything we do.

Cities that are both dispersed and low rise are less easily destroyed. Mono cultured, low density suburbs devoid of commercial endeavour are probably safer from attack or inductrial accident ro a combination of both.
This will be a setback for neo-urbanists who have been determined to build more interesting, more mixed use communities.
