OTTAWA, CanadaBlue Heron Storage Corporation has opened Kanata Norths first public storage building.
Serving the Kanata and West Carleton suburbs, the state-of-the-art facility offers the security of a permanent on-site residence, and award-quality architecture that complements the neighbourhood.
We designed it to fit in with the Kanata and Dunrobin Village ambience, says architect Brian G. Saumure, B. Arch. The front of the building is reminiscent of old Amish-style barns with their large doors, higher ceilings, pitched roof lines and skylights. We also chose non-traditional colours to enhance the community look.
The new facility is aimed at growing homeowner and business demand for storage space with units ranging in size from as little as 6 by 8 and 10 by 10 to as large as 20 by 30. Storage rates are affordable, based on storage area, and start at only $55 per month. Located right onsite is a permanent residence that provides even greater round-the-clock security for Blue Heron clients. For clients who sign up before the end of November, Blue Heron is offering one months free rent on a one year lease.
Designed by Mr. Saumure, a Carleton School of Architecture graduate, together with well-known Carleton Place designer Léo Clement, the construction was facilitated by a Small Business Loan made available through the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. This is exactly the type opportunity that the SBL program was designed for, said Senior Business Advisor Karen McBane at the CIBC Branch in Bells Corners. We look forward to working with them further as their business grows.
