STUDENT PREPARATION
Here is what student teams need to do to prepare for and compete in these competitions:
1. Every team must register using http://uottawa-nicol.myreviewroom.com/. |
7. Judges are drawn from outside the University, in most cases. |
2. One registration will cover your participation in both the Business Model Competition and the Wes Nicol Competition. |
8. To prepare for the Biz Model Comp, student teams should refer to: http://dramatispersonae.org/AssignmentsADM3396BusinessModelCompetition.htm and read: THE COMPLETE BUSINESS MODEL: http://www.eqjournalblog.com/?p=692. |
3. At least half the team must be full time U of O students. Max team size is four people. |
9. Student teams must turn their biz models into full business plans and have the plans uploaded to Review Room (http://uottawa-nicol.myreviewroom.com/) not later than Saturday March 6th at noon. This will give the judges about 24 hours to familiarize themselves with the submissions before presentations are made on in the U of O Wes Nicol Comp Sunday March 7th, 2010 in Tabaret Hall Room 325. |
4. To enter the Wes Nicol, your team must be in the top 5 or 6 in the Biz Model Comp. That is our filter. We will either allow 5 or 6 teams into the Wes Nicol depending on the quality of the entrants. |
10. To prepare for the Wes Nicol, student teams should refer to: http://dramatispersonae.org/AssignmentsADM3396WesNicolBusinessPlanCompetition.htm. |
5. The Biz Model Comp 2010 will be held on Wed. March 3rd from 4 to 7 pm in Tabaret 325. Presentations must be posted on: http://uottawa-nicol.myreviewroom.com/ before noon on Tuesday March 3rd so the judges may review them before you present. |
11. The top team in the Wes Nicol may be eligible to compete in the Wes Nicol Nationals against university teams from across Canada (http://www.nicol-award.com/). That is held at a gala event on March 30th from 6 pm to 9:30 pm at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa. The keynote speaker this year is Richard L'Abbé. |
6. Order of presentations will be random. |
